    Facebook users surpassed the users of other social networks in their willingness to share product information, according to an 8thBridge survey. Almost 2 in 3 Facebook users were willing to share product info, compared with 1 in 4 for Twitter and about 2 in 9 for Pinterest, with respondents listing their top reason for sharing as wanting to "express tastes and preferences with friends," followed closely by wanting to "share a great product or experience with friends." eMarketer (12/27)

  • Outback Bowl, local businesses team up to boost Tampa buzz
    The Outback Bowl in Tampa Bay, Fla., is partnering with several local tourism groups to promote the Tampa Bay region through social media sites. The partnership between the Bowl and such businesses as Tampa Bay & Co. and Raymond James Stadium aims to reach a national audience by pooling the groups' social media sites. "I predict this initiative will be a model for other major events here as well as bowls around the country," said Outback Bowl communications director Mike Schulze.   • Netflix to add social functions shortly after bill is signed
    Netflix plans to add social features next year for its U.S. customers soon after President Barack Obama signs the Video Privacy Protection Act Amendments Act into law. That bill amends a 1988 law that prohibited companies from sharing consumers' video-rental history.
