  Burrill has raised almost $200 million in additional investment, bringing its fourth venture capital fund to $505 million. • Funding round brings in $5 million for diagnostic test maker
  Nuclea Biotechnologies, which specializes in cancer and diabetes assays, secured $5 million in its initial Series C financing round. Proceeds will go toward clinical studies and recruitment of new employees to support development of the firm's fatty acid synthase diagnostics for prostate and breast cancers. • Conn. genetic disorder detection firm obtains $1.4 million

• Israeli cancer Dx startup pulls in $12 million
  A funding round has brought in $12 million for Vayyar Imaging. The Israeli startup is working on a processor that employs radiofrequency waves to diagnose breast cancer early and that can offer a cheaper alternative to mammograms and other traditional diagnostic procedures. • HeartWare completes $8 million buyout of World Heart
  HeartWare, which specializes in ventricular assist systems, has finalized its purchase of rival World Heart for $8 million. The deal is expected to help HeartWare strengthen its position in the VAD market in the future, CEO Doug Godshall said. MassDevice.com (Boston) (8/3)

• Actuated's device to unclog feeding tubes wins FDA nod
  The FDA has granted Actuated Medical clearance for TubeClear, its device used to remove blockages in feeding tubes without disconnecting them from patients. The device, which already is being marketed in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, is designed to make it easier for clinicians to clean tubes without causing discomfort for patients.
