In March, sun comes with longer waits at some Fla. hubs
March is the busiest month at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood and Palm Beach international airports and the second busiest at Miami International Airport. 2 arrested for separate bomb threats in 1 day at N.J. airport
Eran Hess, 44, of Tel Aviv, was arrested and charged Sunday with making a false alarm after telling a gate agent his bag had a bomb in it after being told the bag was already loaded on a plane at Newark Liberty International Airport but no seats were available. On the same day, Thomas Foley III, 35, from Hoboken, N.J., was also charged for saying he had a bomb in his shoe. The Star-Ledger (Newark, N.J.) (3/17)

All OK at Miami airport after Sunday bomb scare
Terminal E at Miami International Airport was shut down on Sunday night after a passenger made a bomb threat. Two flights were delayed, and it was not reported if the person was charged. The Miami Herald (free registration) (3/17)

Airlines want to upgrade computer system for airline tickets
The International Air Transport Association has filed an application with the Department of Transportation to upgrade the third-party computer system used to sell airline tickets. Study: Southwest isn't always lowest-priced option
Out of 100 Southwest routes, its competitors had cheaper prices 60% of the time. Topaz, which conducted the study, compared the carrier's prices to those on Expedia, Travelocity and Orbitz. The Wall Street Journal/The Middle Seat Terminal blog (3/15)

A4A is working with FAA to minimize effects of tower closures
Airport officials say closing air-traffic control towers would affect safety, but Airlines for America said it's too soon to draw conclusions. "It's premature to discuss flight cancellations, as the earliest any furloughs would occur is April 7," said Katie Connell, spokeswoman for A4A. "We are working with the FAA to minimize any impact to passengers and shippers." The Washington Post/The Associated Press (3/15)

FAA pushes back decision on tower closures to Thursday
The Federal Aviation Administration has delayed a decision on closing air-traffic control towers until Thursday. The agency had planned to notify 173 airports today of pending closures, but needs more time to read responses from communities that will be affected by the closures. Travelport will sell full range of American Airlines products
American Airlines emerges as the winner in its agreement with Travelport, experts say. Travelport will use the carrier's direct connect service to sell ancillary services. "All of our subscribers will continue to access American’s full content, while American can merchandise its full line of products through Travelport," said Dan Westbrook, Travelport's vice president and general manager of global distribution sales and service.
