- Key skills for productive employees
Employees will need certain skills to thrive in the current business climate, in which rapid change is the norm, according to a recent report from CEB. In addition to other key capabilities, employees will need problem-solving skills, technical knowledge and the ability to collaborate with others, CEB says. You can help your staff to develop their talents by encouraging them to work together and emphasizing the importance of continual learning. Small Business Trends

- Feds push back exchange notification deadline for employers
The March 1 deadline for companies to inform their employees about the health insurance exchanges mandated by the Affordable Care Act has been postponed, federal officials say. Regulators say the information is likely to be available during the summer or fall, in advance of the exchanges' Oct. 1 open-enrollment kickoff. Regulators said they "are committed to a smooth implementation process including providing employers with sufficient time to comply and selecting an applicability date that ensures that employees receive the information at a meaningful time." - Colo. exchange: "We welcome brokers to the table"
Officials with Colorado's health insurance exchange said they will be relying on insurance brokers' expertise to help educate the public and connect consumers with the right plan for them. "We welcome brokers to the table. We're going to need as much help as possible," said Patty Fontneau, director of the exchange. Agents and brokers will be distinct from navigators in the state, officials said. Some 150,000 consumers are expected to acquire coverage through Colorado's exchange in the first year.
