- TSA cites jurisdiction in refusal to accept hearing invitation
The Transportation Security Administration says it will not send a representative to a House aviation subcommittee hearing because House rules state that the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee does not have authority over the TSA. Scientists have invented a chip that is sensitive to detect 2,4-dinitrotoluene, a key component in explosives. "Our patented nanoscale vapor detection platform has enabled us to create a ... chip that biomimics a dog’s keen sense of smell,” said Dr. Brian Piorek, chief scientist at SpectraFluidics, which patented and licensed the chip. - New Apple app for Tenn. airport is available
McGhee Tyson Airport in Tennessee has added an Apple-based application that displays flight information. It also shows airport directions, parking and airline contact information, and vendor options.
