- Growth expected for all foodservice segments in 2012
The foodservice industry expects this year to be its third consecutive year of positive growth, with $631.8 billion in sales expected -- a 3.5% increase from last year. "Driven by the continued national economic recovery and consumers’ pent-up demand for the food, service and social outlet that restaurants provide, the U.S. restaurant industry is projected to expand in 2012," the National Restaurant Association’s 2012 Forecast said. - Golf legends vie to design Olympic course
Golf greats Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman are among the eight finalists being considered to design the golf course for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The course will be the first Olympic golf course in more than a century and will be available for public play when the games conclude. Organizers will announce the winning designer in March. CNN
