  • App-sales success is concentrated among few developers, firm says
Half of the revenue from Apple's App Store and Google Play during a three-week period in November went to a total of 25 developers, who collectively took in $60 million from paid downloads and in-app purchases, analyst Canalys estimates. Game apps also tended to crowd out other categories, the report found. "With top game developers' content so prevalent in the stores, it can be hard for other good quality apps to get the attention they deserve," Canalys' Tim Shepherd said in a statement. • Experts press for unified policy on U.S. cybersecurity
Cybersecurity in the U.S. is being hampered by a piecemeal approach, according to a group of policy analysts from two prominent think tanks. Timothy Sample of the Battelle Memorial Institute Special Programs Organization and Michael Swetnam of the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies spell out the concerns in a book, calling on government officials to establish a comprehensive cybersecurity doctrine that details in clear language how the U.S. will respond to threats and attacks.
