- Neb. firm introduces new propane-powered lawnmower model
Exmark Manufacturing has begun production of propane-powered lawnmowers with electronic fuel injection. "It's got an oxygen sensor that senses the exhaust gases and it knows whether the fuel mixture is too rich or too lean for that condition. It sends back a signal to the [engine control unit], telling if it needs to make an adjustment. It's constantly measuring," said Exmark's chief development engineer, Garry Busboom. "There have been a number of our customers over the past years that have been looking for products that have a lower carbon footprint and are more green, and propane fits that bill," Busboom said. - Experts: Alt-fuel infrastructure poses opportunity, challenge
The U.S. may have decades' worth of alternative fuel supplies, but getting these fuels to the market is the real challenge that needs to be addressed, experts said during the Green Truck Summit in Indianapolis last week. "There's a good deal of local availability when it comes to such alternative fuels as [compressed natural gas], [liquid natural gas], propane, and electricity -- it's when you look at embedding the infrastructure for them on a national basis that it gets real challenging," said George Survant, Time Warner Cable's senior director of fleet management. - BP to challenge ruling on Gulf spill damages payments
BP seeks to appeal a court's decision that raised the estimate of the amount it must pay to settle for damages arising from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill, the company said. The U.K. oil major had expected to pay $7.8 billion to settle such economic claims, but the amount was increased to $8.5 billion because the court ruled in favor of a claim administrator's analysis of the agreements. BP also said it is "not possible to determine" the final amount. Fox Business/MarketWatch Pulse
