Report: Small appliances lone bright spot on Australian market
Small appliances came in as the one bright spot on GfK’s latest quarterly Temax report on the Australian Technical Consumer Goods industry. Home decor, furnishings popular with Black Friday shoppers
Over 20% of adults who shopped on Black Friday made purchases of home décor or home furnishing items. Overall the number of Black Friday shoppers increased 9% this year and a 13% increase over last year’s spending, according to a survey for the National Retail Federation by BIGinsight. Cyber Monday adds to retailers' winning streak
Early online deals didn't dilute enthusiasm for Cyber Monday. Sales at 500 major retailers were up 28.3% by 9 p.m. Eastern compared with last year, according to IBM Smarter Commerce. U.S. deficit talks will focus on mortgage-interest deduction
The idea of raising revenue by limiting home mortgage-interest deduction will likely get serious consideration as U.S. lawmakers take a hard look at reducing the budget deficit.
