  • John Malone's Liberty Media to buy Charter stake, sources say
    John Malone's Liberty Media reportedly is in final talks to acquire 27% of Charter Communications. The investment in Charter would mark Malone's re-entry into the U.S. cable sector after selling Tele-Communications to AT&T for $48 billion in 1999. Liberty reportedly will acquire the holdings from Apollo Global Management, Oaktree Capital Management and other private-equity firms.   • Outdoor Channel's profit takes hit from ad, programming costs
    Outdoor Channel in the fourth quarter posted an 8% rise in revenues to $25.4 million, compared with the same period in 2011, but saw its net income fall to $1.25 million from $1.46 million because of increases in ad costs and the number of programs. Ad revenue was up 4% to $11.8 million, and subscriber income rose 6% to $5.7 million. The network is in the process of being sold to Kroenke Sports & Entertainment for about $227 million.
