  • Foreign visitors set new spending record in September
    Spending by foreign visitors has been increasing in the past three years, and spending in September continued this year's pace toward a new record high. A report from the Department of Commerce shows that spending by foreign travelers to the U.S. reached $13.9 billion, a 4% increase over the same month last year.   • FAA eyes safety between Washington, Oregon airports
    A Federal Aviation Administration panel will explore safety issues regarding flights in and out of Pearson Field Airport in Vancouver, Wash., as they may affect operations at the nearby and far larger Portland International Airport in Oregon. The FAA delayed executing a rule that would create an imaginary box over the airports, letting only one aircraft in at a time, and is looking for new solutions that may include erecting a control tower at Pearson.     Registration is now open for the 12th Annual AAAE/TSA/DHS Aviation Security Summit taking place Dec. 10 and 11 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington, Va. The 12th Annual AAAE/TSA/DHS Aviation Security Summit will continue the tradition of AAAE and federal aviation security policymakers coming together at a joint summit to review the complex issues surrounding aviation security today. Senior TSA and DHS officials, as well as representatives from other federal agencies and Congress, will speak at the summit.
