- AirTran plans to add flights at Memphis, Tenn., airport
Southwest Airlines has announced expanded service in Memphis, Tenn., on its AirTran Airways subsidiary. In August, AirTran will add flights to Chicago, Baltimore, and Orlando, Fla., from Memphis International Airport. - U.S. airlines won't profit from ETS, A4A says
U.S. airlines say they will not see a profit from the European Union's decision to omit foreign carriers from the EU emissions-trading scheme. "There is not a scenario, given the way that airline finances and prices work, for the airlines to realize a profit from [the ETS]," said Nancy Young, Airlines for America's vice president of environmental affairs. - Air Canada will appeal to keep maintenance deal with U.S. firm
The Quebec Superior Court has ruled that Air Canada must keep heavy maintenance operations in Canada after the carrier signed a maintenance agreement with AAR Corp. in Duluth, Minn. "Air Canada will be appealing this Quebec Superior Court decision, given the importance of the matter, and makes no further comment at this time," spokeswoman Isabelle Arthur said in an e-mail.
