The Frederick Municipal Airport control tower in Frederick, Md., opened for business on Tuesday. David Kenny, manager of aviation safety analysis for the Air Safety Institute at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and a friend become the first pilots to perform a controlled landing at the airport. - Texas college to dedicate aerospace center
Texas State Technical College plans to dedicate its Col. James T. Connally Aerospace Center today. The 82,000-square-foot facility will combine several aviation programs under one roof at the college in Waco, Texas. - Florida flight school sees slight rise in enrollment
FlightSafety Academy in Vero Beach, Fla., has seen a slight uptick in enrollment. The school caters to international students, which make up around 90% of the student population. "They are sponsored by international airlines or come to the academy through partnerships with other aviation training schools in Europe and elsewhere around the world," said Steve Phillips, vice president of communications with FlightSafety International.
