  • GAAS 2012 brochure now available
Highlighting the 25 speakers and panelists who will address the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium, the 2012 GAAS brochure is available for download at the newly redesigned website. GAAS 2012 will be held Wednesday, May 16, and Thursday, May 17, at the Hyatt Regency near Chicago. This year's brochure highlights the GAAS 2012 theme of "One Industry, Endless Opportunities." GAAS chairman Dennis Welvaert said the GAAS steering committee felt the 2012 program should include content that focuses on all the steps in the aftermarket supply chain in North America. "We also want to discuss critical issues like the quality of aftermarket parts, how to tackle the parts proliferation issue and how we can best use things like social media and the Internet to market products more successfully."

Members of the associations that sponsor GAAS are eligible for discounted registration fees of $200 off regular rates when they register by Friday, April 13. A complete list of registration fees is available online. GAAS 2012 room rates at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare are $175 (single or double) and are guaranteed at this rate through April 13. Complimentary guest room Internet is included in the discounted room rates. Reservations can be made by phone at (888) 421-1442 or online. • 5 ways to ensure your compensation plan is on target
Don't wait until a key worker walks out the door before reviewing your compensation plan, says Kevin O'Neil of Sapient Capital Partners. He recommends that every key team member be offered an equity stake in the company, and that bonus plans should be simple and easy to understand. • The true purpose of incentive pay
Employers shouldn't think of incentives as bribes to get employees to do good work, Ann Bares writes. Instead, they should be used to highlight the company's priorities and nudge employees toward the activities that will create the most value. "If your employees don't walk in the door each day motivated to do good work, you have problems that no incentive plan is going to fix," she writes.
