- Frontier could be spun off or sold, Republic CEO says
Republic Airways Holdings, the parent company of Frontier Airlines, plans to spin off Frontier into a "more pure low-cost carrier" or to sell it to another company. "People understand Frontier stands for value," said Bryan Bedford, CEO of Republic Airways. "Generally, it's the lowest-cost ticket from point A to point B. But you've got comfort, live TV, terrific flight attendants and ground personnel." USA TODAY

- Air Canada marks 75th anniversary with display of 787
Air Canada celebrated its 75th anniversary by displaying the Dreamliner 787, which is scheduled for delivery to the carrier in 2014. "It's an aircraft that has ultra-long range, a lower cost because it consumes less fuel and fewer seats than a triple 7," said Calin Rovinescu, president and CEO of Air Canada. "It's an ideal aircraft to try some longer-range but thinner routes." The Toronto Star

- ICAO will draft proposal on emissions by end of 2012, official says
The International Civil Aviation Organization could hammer out a proposal on emissions by the end of the year. The United Nations body overseeing civil aviation, created in 1944, is considering four possible "market-based measures." "All of these issues about competition will be on the table," said Secretary General Raymond Benjamin. "It will not be only governments meeting here to discuss them, but all of the industry and regional organizations." Reuters

- How leaders can better reach out to younger workers
Leaders shouldn't be afraid to engage young workers who have views that conflict with traditional thinking, says Mark Mueller-Eberstein, CEO of Adgetec and a professor at Rutgers University. Instead, leaders should look to leverage young workers' enthusiasm, without fear of making mistakes or looking less than perfect. "Transparency, authenticity and openness are key attributes the leaders of today and tomorrow need to embrace and model within their organization," Mueller-Eberstein says.
