Novozymes expects to increase sales and efficiency through the purchase of Bio-Products, a unit of Iogen that was auctioned off. - Clorox sales up, due partly to rampant flu season
Last quarter, Clorox sales were up 9% to $1.33 billion, due in part to an active flu season. As a result, the company boosted its 2013 sales-growth projections from between 2% and 4% to between 3% and 5%. Sales of Clorox cleaning products were up 15% to $425 million, which boosted overall income by 28%. MSN Money

- Unilever audits 1,600 products as part of waste-reduction plan
Unilever is hoping to have a recycle-and-recovery rate of 15% in its 14 biggest markets by the end of the decade, and conducted life-cycle analysis on 1,600 products as part of that effort. "Our goal is to follow the waste hierarchy set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency," said Michael Hughes, a packaging executive at Unilever. "It is to reduce packaging, reuse packaging, and recycle packaging, and we have specific goals within each of those three targets." Packaging World online
