  • How chemical manufacturers can continuously improve safety
Chemical manufacturers seeking to improve safety culture must go beyond technology-driven improvements, writes Ramabhadran Srinivasan, a process-safety and risk-management leader at DuPont Sustainable Solutions. "To understand risk potential and the importance of constant vigilance, chemical manufacturers must develop a learning culture. This requires reporting of incidents, investigating their potential consequences, and then sharing the learnings from the investigation with all relevant personnel. ... Dividends include greater productivity, an improved risk profile, and higher employee morale," he writes. ChemicalProcessing.com (10/18) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story

  • ACI: Calif. regulations would be "unclear," burdensome
The proposed Safer Consumer Products regulation in California is drawing opposition from industry organizations, including the American Cleaning Institute. According to an ACI statement, the regulations are "unclear, would cause confusion in the marketplace, place heavy burdens on business and provide little benefit to consumers." In terms of branding and eco-certification, the new rulebook will give a competitive edge to marketers that focus on honest, transparent messaging.
