- Infographic: Spread the news to maximize app exposure
Make a good first impression to let your application stand out among the many coming to market every day, this StartApp infographic on app exposure recommends. Consider paying to be preloaded, either as a bookmark or as an already installed app. Look at alternative app stores such as SlideMe and Mobango Mobile Power, which offer different deals and niche audiences. Finally, look to overseas markets such as the U.K. and growing markets such as China rather than limiting sales to the U.S. B2C Marketing Insider

- Understanding app-store algorithms aids keyword research
As the number of applications increases, so should the attention paid to optimizing app store search for discovery, Clair O'Neill writes. Apple appears to have integrated Chomp into its App Store search algorithm, elevating the importance of the Genius button and the front page screen shot. Adding apps to directory listings such as AppBrain should help developers get discovered in Google Play. Properly researching keywords for inside app stores and organic discovery can help to earn maximum exposure. eConsultancy.com

- Facebook will not use DAA's behavioral-tracking warning icon
The Electronic Privacy Information Center and the Center for Digital Democracy have called on Facebook to reconsider recent changes the groups say threaten members' online privacy. Facebook says it will not use the Digital Advertising Alliance's "Ad Options" icon to signify to users that they are being behaviorally targeted by advertisers. Facebook responded by saying that it "is a strong supporter of transparency and control in the online ecosystem, and we are participating in discussions with many stakeholders, including through the DAA and the U.S. Department of Commerce."
