- Technical education programs are going green
High schools focused on career and technical education are going green by preparing students for careers in renewable energy, recycling, environmental engineering and sustainable agriculture. "It's growing in technical education just like it's growing across the country and everywhere else," said Jan Bray, executive director of the Association for Career and Technical Education. "An electrician needs to be able to install solar panels. Sustainability is a big part of agriculture. And these factors need to be integrated into the curriculum." District Administration magazine

Bosses such as Paul Polman of Unilever, Jochen Zeitz of Puma and Pavan Sukhdev of Deutschebank are shaking up old ways of doing business and embracing new technologies and business philosophies. "Incremental steps will always be necessary, no question, but there is a growing need for more drastic measures," Elkington and Love write. FastCoExist

- 50-turbine wind project is planned in N.Y. town
OwnEnergy is proposing to build a 50-turbine wind farm in Denmark, N.Y. Town Supervisor Tom Fleming said he is not opposed to the proposal as long as it meets zoning rules. "This could be a benefit to the farmers in times when things are tough. And it's their land, and they have a right to that as long as it doesn't harm someone else," he said.
