- U.K. agency pushes producers to meet glass recycling rules
U.K. companies that haven't met their glass recycling obligations must do so for 2012 or face penalties, according to Defra, the agency charged with enforcing environmental rules. This year, bisphenol A was banned for children under 3 in France, Sweden and Belgium, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration banned the chemical in sippy cups and baby bottles, and a petition against it was circulated by the group Breast Cancer U.K. The new year will bring a risk assessment of BPA by the European Food Safety Authority.
