- Fertel: U.S., Southern are said to be near loan guarantee agreement
Southern Co. and the Department of Energy reportedly are nearing the completion of a loan guarantee agreement that would support Southern's reactor expansion project at its Plant Vogtle facility in Georgia, said Marvin Fertel, president and CEO of the Nuclear Energy Institute. The two parties struck a preliminary deal three years ago on an $8.33 billion guarantee, but a deal has not been finalized. Southern thinks the issues hindering an agreement aren't "insurmountable," Fertel said. Fox Business/Dow Jones Newswires

- Nuclear is more consistent than wind, gas, says Westinghouse CEO
The U.S. needs an energy source with reliability that only nuclear energy can provide, said Westinghouse Electric President and CEO Daniel Roderick. Natural gas prices are not likely to remain low, as any commodity is subject to volatility, but nuclear stays constant, he said. While there may be a push for wind energy in the U.S., the wind doesn't blow all the time, so a more stable energy source is needed to meet demand, he said. Fox Business

That's the same approach leaders should take in running their companies, Breen explains. "There's no one individual going to make a company. So I always want to put people around me who I think are better than me, who will challenge me," he says. Knowledge@Wharton
