    Israeli researchers have discovered that stem cells are preserved by a subgroup of activated immune cells that also can protect them from chemotherapy and infection.   • Chronic conditions linked to increased odds of sepsis later in life
    Middle-aged adults diagnosed with chronic lung, kidney or heart diseases were more than twice as likely to have sepsis, a study in the journal PLOS ONE found.     Lifeblood in Memphis, Tenn., said it is part of a network of blood centers that ensures communities always have the blood supply they need, particularly during disasters. The blood bank said so far it hasn't been asked to give blood to the New York area, which has been severely affected by Hurricane Sandy.     The Obama administration indicated in a Supreme Court filing that it doesn't oppose the revival of a legal challenge against the Affordable Care Act by Liberty University.
