- Why Target took aim at Canada
Target's planned move into Canada this year will be the first international move for the U.S. retail chain, which needs to expand outside its home turf to ensure future growth, analysts say. Canada makes sense to start the move into new markets because many Canadian consumers already shop at Target when they visit the U.S., but there are still challenges, including incorporating French into its Quebec stores, says Target Canada President Tony Fisher. - Red Lobster reaches out to Hispanic consumers
Darden Restaurants will spend $3 million on its first Spanish-language ad campaign for Red Lobster. The chain estimates about 10% of the guests at its 700 eateries are Hispanic. Red Lobster falls behind some other chains in reaching out to the fast-growing demographic group, largely because it was focused on the comprehensive brand overhaul launched in 2010 to revive sales.
