- Unreal aims to deliver a better candy bar
Adam Melonas, chief innovation officer for Unreal, is tasked with creating candy bars using healthful, sustainabile and natural ingredients. The company's candy has less sugar and fewer calories, but more fiber and protein than typical candy bars. Melonas said Unreal may look into creating other types of snack food. NCA highlights detrimental effects of Prop 37 in California
This week NCA contacted all California confectioners and their employees to address Prop 37 and the detrimental effect it would have on consumers, manufacturers and retailers. The Los Angeles Times recently came out against Proposition 37 because of the deep flaws written into the initiative. - Mondelez launches mobile marketing effort
Mondelez International, the global snack company created by the split of Kraft Foods, has launched a mobile marketing effort aimed at pairing its top brands with mobile entrepreneurs. "We are planning to invest 10% of our global marketing budget in mobile activations and channels across the entire consumer journey," said Bonin Bough, Mondelez vice president of global media and consumer engagement. Carlos Mann, founder of Momotombo Chocolate, is among the chocolatiers who are bringing the art of chocolate-making back to its simplest elements.
