  • How will the physical shopping experience evolve?
As digital and mobile technology gives consumers more ways to shop, trips to the store will increasingly shift from utilitarian buying missions to theatrical experiences, some retail experts say. • Kansas City Royals think outside the box with billboard campaign
The Kansas City Royals found an innovative way to attract attention to their upcoming season: two billboards with a twist. The signs are posted on opposite sides of a major street and show a pitcher delivering a fastball on one side and a catcher ready to receive the pitch on the other. The unique character of the signage is that the catcher's billboard appears to be ripped by the approaching ball. • Mass. McDonald's goes small to attract attention
A McDonald's in Danvers, Mass., wants to stand out from its fast food neighbors. So, it plans to replace its 20-foot tall pylon sign with something more visible. The restaurant is located in a strip that also holds rivals Wendy's, Burger King and Taco Bell, all with signs similar in size and location to McDonald's. In order to be seen better by drivers on its busy street, the operator wants to replace the pylon sign with a 12-foot monument sign with a digital screen and a brick base. The Salem News (Mass.)
