- Mass. McDonald's goes small to attract attention
A McDonald's in Danvers, Mass., wants to stand out from its fast food neighbors. So, it plans to replace its 20-foot tall pylon sign with something more visible. The restaurant is located in a strip that also holds rivals Wendy's, Burger King and Taco Bell, all with signs similar in size and location to McDonald's. In order to be seen better by drivers on its busy street, the operator wants to replace the pylon sign with a 12-foot monument sign with a digital screen and a brick base. The Salem News (Mass.)

Village trustees in Vernon Hills, Ill., are considering a plan to redevelop Westfield Hawhthorne Mall that includes an AMC theater with its own bar and luxury recliner seats. - Texas town's new ordinance clarifies digital sign rules
Officials in Denison, Texas, approved a new sign ordinance aimed at clearing up confusion created by the earlier version and clarify rules on digital billboards.
