TSA pilots managed inclusion program for PreCheck
The Transportation Security Administration is testing its Managed Inclusion program at international airports in Tampa, Fla., and Indianapolis. The program lets passengers who are not eligible for the TSA's PreCheck program use the expedited security checks after they are subject to a bomb-sniffing dog and a trained agent. TSA geared up for increased traffic around Christmas
The Transportation Security Administration laid the groundwork to handle increased passenger traffic as well as the increased security risks such times pose. “Airport checkpoints and baggage rooms are fully staffed as this is a busy time of the year for airline travel,” said TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein. BTS sees bigger U.S. airline workforce in October
The workforce for U.S. airlines saw a small bump in October compared to the same month last year, preliminary data from the Department of Transportation's Bureau of Transportation Statistics show. Report: Americans hesitant to buy travel via mobile devices
According to a PhoCusWright survey, Americans are likely to use mobile devices to research travel, but less so to book trips. The survey found that 30% of respondents used their mobile devices to make a travel purchase in the past year, up from 26% last year. Travel Weekly (12/21)

The Inspector General of the Department of Transportation will begin an audit next month of staffing at control towers across the U.S. to examine what seems to be a larger workforce in a smaller, more efficient industry. American Eagle's new labor contracts win court approval
The new labor contracts American Eagle negotiated with each of its three unions have been approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane. "While the past year for the Eagle team has been extraordinarily challenging, we believe what we have accomplished positions us well for a bright future," said American Eagle President and CEO Dan Garton on Dec. 21 in a message to the company's employees.
