  • Investors take ownership of SUPERVALU chains
    A group of investors led by Cerberus Capital Management has purchased the Albertsons, Acme, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's and Star Market grocery chains from SUPERVALU. "SuperValu will continue as one of the largest wholesale grocery providers in America serving nearly 2,000 independent retailers in 43 states," said President and CEO Sam Duncan of the company, which now consists of a food wholesaler, the Save-A-Lot discount chain, and regional banners.   • Wal-Mart expands mobile scan-and-pay option
