  • Avoiding "vet peeves" helps maintain pets' health
Some habits at the veterinarian's office, dubbed "vet peeves" by the author of this article, can affect pet care, and she suggests avoiding them to keep the owner, pet and veterinarian happy. It's important to arrive on time, listen while receiving pet care instructions and let the professionals handle the pet restraint during exams. Also, don't get upset if asked to leave the room for a procedure to be completed. PetSide.com (1/30) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story
  • Deciphering the language of pet foods
The Association of American Feed Control Officials determines the standards for pet food labels and prohibits the use of certain misleading terms on labels, writes veterinarian Lee Pickett. However, AAFCO has no power to regulate promotional materials, so terms such as "human grade" that have no meaning may still be used to promote a product, Dr. Pickett notes. The terms "organic" and "natural" do have official definitions, adds Dr. Pickett. BerksPets.com (Reading, Pa.) (1/31) LinkedInFacebookTwitterEmail this Story
