    The Defense Department says the Transportation Security Administration and Coast Guard's Transportation Worker Identification Credential program doesn't meet its standards and that TWIC cards will not be used for access to DOD systems. The Department of the Army issued a notice stating: "All current TWIC holders accessing an application within Electronic Transportation Acquisition will need to purchase an External Certificate Authority prior to Jan. 29, 2013."     Travel agents sold $84.5 billion in airline tickets in 2012 -- up 3% from $82.1 billion recorded in 2011, the Airlines Reporting Corp. has found. The consolidated dollar value of airline tickets sold by travel agents in 2012 rose 2.93% year-over-year compared with figures in 2011, ARC said. Total sales rose 2.93% in 2012.   • FAA rule would prohibit pilots' in-flight use of personal devices
    The Federal Aviation Administration is proposing a rule that would require pilots to turn off personal electronic devices in the cockpit during flights.
