The U.S. should authorize further exports of natural gas and other fossil fuels, according to a report crafted by a group of energy executives, former government officials and lawmakers. Trade limits on such exports won't help curb carbon emissions or advance "domestic economic interests," the report stated, and they would likely lead to only "modest impacts" on domestic natural gas prices. - Various roof trusses carry risks for firefighters
Some types of roof trusses can create hazards for firefighters because they contain less material and less strength, thereby making collapse more likely when a building is ablaze, writes Gregory Havel, a fire instructor and former deputy fire chief. Although bowstring trusses have received a bad rap, they're not the most prone to be most dangerous. Havel suggests that preincident plans make note of "the use of trusses and other lightweight structural components in the construction or remodeling of a building." Fire Engineering
