- Pentagon should focus on developing feedstock capacity
The Pentagon should focus first on securing affordable supplies of feedstock for advanced biofuels rather than investing in advanced-biofuel production capacity, writes Jim Lane. The federal government in the 1910s reserved some oil fields in Wyoming and California for military and aviation use, something that could be replicated today for biomass supplies, Lane notes. Once an affordable supply of feedstock is in place, "we have little doubt that based on the downstream demand in aviation, and the history of financing in biofuels that the production capacity would be built," Lane states. - How to leave every conference a winner
Develop a game plan before attending a conference so you won't get overwhelmed and miss important contacts or information, Rikki Rogers writes. "Conferences are rare gatherings of industry leaders, and it’s unlikely that you’ll have so many great people in your field under the same roof in the near future. Put on some comfortable shoes and make the most of it," she writes. TheDailyMuse.com
