- National airline policy will strengthen economy, A4A's Calio says
Airlines for America and its members have proposed a new national airline policy that would allow U.S. airlines to operate more effectively and thus bolster the economy, A4A President and CEO Nicholas Calio writes in this blog post. "The policy seeks to reduce taxes, reform the industry's regulatory burden, modernize our nation's air traffic control system, stabilize runaway energy prices and enable the industry to compete globally," Calio writes. - FAA, industry groups emphasize pilot response to stalls for training
The Federal Aviation Administration and other industry groups informing pilot training are calling for changes in stall training, a key aspect of pilot training critical for maintaining airplane safety. The FAA and the International Federation of Airline Pilots' Associations have updated their training information to reflect their latest stall-training recommendations. - BA commits to $500M biofuel purchases over 10 years
British Airways has confirmed a purchase agreement the airline made with biofuels manufacturer Solena Fuels Corp. to purchase some $500 million in waste-to-jet fuel over 10 years. The fuel will be produced at Solena's GreenSky London, a commercial-scale facility producing biofuel, bio-naptha and renewable energy. BiomassMagazine.com

Experts are scheduled to hold a public hearing today in Washington in advance of a January report from the International Civil Aviation Organization encouraging nations to move away from allowing criminal charges against aviation officials, including pilots, air traffic controllers and mechanics involved in flight accidents.
