- Tablets complement PCs, Lenovo executive says
Tablet computers aren't killing off the desktop PC; the products will co-exist in the home and at work, Lenovo Group's David Schmoock says. "The tablet world is almost completely complementary to the PC world," Schmoock says, adding that "I do think there will be more convergence between tablets and phones than I have seen between tablets and PCs." Hewlett-Packard posted an $8.9 billion loss in its fiscal third quarter, with the Business Critical Systems unit seeing its revenue down 16%; HP's software unit, meanwhile, saw an 18% sales increase. California lawmakers have sent to Gov. Jerry Brown legislation that would prohibit authorities from gathering location-tracking data that cellphones send back to carriers, unless the authorities have a warrant.
