Register today for Basic Prestressed Concrete Design!
PCI Building Industry SmartBrief | Feb 26, 2015
PCI is launching a new program, Online Academy, to provide engineers and students with an opportunity to learn more about precast and prestressed concrete from leading educators. Each course will take place once a week from 7-8:30 p.m. Eastern and is hosted via the online platform GoToTraining.com. The first course, Basic Prestressed Concrete Design, begins on March 4 and will last for six weeks. At the conclusion of the six weeks, attendees will be awarded 9 PDHs.
Basic Prestressed Concrete Design explains the basic concepts and methods of prestressed concrete design. Attendees will work through the design of a simple prestressed concrete rectangular beam of a building. Both straight strand and harped-strand design will be covered in the example, exposing participants to realistic design conditions. Each session is designed to optimize learning regarding high-performance precast concrete, its benefits, applications and design methodologies. The content is technical in orientation and useful in the design of precast, prestressed concrete structures. The content is based on ACI 318-14, ASCE-7 (2010) and IBC (2015).
