OSHA will extend initial date for electronically submitting injury and illness logs

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) intends to extend the initial date by which certain employers are required to electronically submit their injury and illness logs under the recordkeeping rule issued in May 2016. This regulation requires certain employers to submit the information from their completed 2016 Form 300A to OSHA electronically by July 1, 2017. OSHA intends to extend this to a later date; additional information is not yet available, including a proposed extension date. Find more information here.


New online training modules now are available!

NRCA University has made available two new modules of Design Essentials for Roof Performance, an online training program that offers an easy, affordable way to learn about designing for optimal roof system performance. The program explains the issues to consider when determining which roof systems or components are best for a building type, location and building owner's requirements. The two new modules are Liquid-applied Roof Membranes and Rigid Board Roof Insulation. Find more information here.


NRCA offers Spanish versions of brochures

NRCA has made available Spanish versions of its F.Y.I. and Insist on an NRCA Roofing Professional brochures in an electronic format. The F.Y.I. brochure highlights roofing material options and costs, how to choose an NRCA roofing professional and how to maintain a roof system. The Insist on an NRCA Roofing Professional brochure outlines the steps customers should take to ensure they are dealing with reputable and professional roofing contractors on every job. NRCA University offers ProForeman Certificate Program

NRCA University's ProForeman Certificate Program allows roofing company employees to earn a certificate by completing a series of training programs and demonstrating their competence to perform work. After completing the program, employees should be able to demonstrate an ability to speak with company personnel and customers about roof systems and job sites, providing rationale for specific roof and safety system choices. NRCA's Executive Management Institute (EMI) offers seasoned roofing executives a unique educational experience. Executives who have had primary responsibility for leading their companies will have the opportunity to learn from world-renowned Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management professors and industry experts; apply learned concepts through team exercises; receive one-on-one company-specific feedback on assignments; and network with industry peers. FM Global clients will receive $435 million membership credit

Commercial property insurer FM Global has announced its clients will collectively receive an estimated $435 million in premium credit when they renew their policies between June 30, 2017, and June 29, 2018, as a result of the company's favorable operating performance. The "membership credit" each policyholder will receive will be based on annual premium and client tenure. Following this credit, FM Global clients will have benefited from about $3.8 billion in membership credit since the program was introduced in 2001. Find more information here.

Seattle-area roofing company faces $645,000 in fines

NRCA releases statement regarding Regulatory Accountability Act

Rob Portman (R-Ohio), Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) for introducing the Regulatory Accountability Act, bipartisan legislation that is one of NRCA's top priorities because it will reduce the burden of excessive regulations on the roofing industry by reforming the outdated federal regulatory system.
