NRCA releases statement responding to OSHA's silica rule

NRCA SmartBrief | Apr 06, 2016

NRCA has released a statement addressing its concerns regarding the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA's) new regulation involving protection for workers exposed to respirable silica dust. When it takes effect for the construction industry in June 2017, OSHA's final silica regulation will dramatically reduce the permissible exposure level for silica in construction workplaces to 50 micrograms per cubic meter (from the current 250) and will establish an action level of 25 micrograms per cubic meter. To meet these much lower levels, new engineering controls will become necessary to ensure compliance. View NRCA's statement.
