Urging the Securities and Exchange Commission to move forward in its efforts to make disclosure more accessible and useful for investors, SEC Investor Advocate Rick Fleming spoke Friday about the benefits of eXtensible business reporting language (XBRL). He also mentioned that although costs are a concern, those costs can be expected to decrease over time. XBRL filing costs are lower than expected, according to results of a recent survey of filing agents providing services to small public companies.
