Power of cinema advertising poised for big year

With a string of hits from "San Andreas" to "Star Wars," cinemas are primed for a standout 2015 with a big event nearly every weekend, delivering valuable audiences to advertisers all year long. "Consumers have more entertainment options than ever before, both on demand and on every size screen imaginable, yet the movies continue to be the most powerful video medium, bringing truly premium content to our audiences," said Katy Loria, CAC's president and chairman. "This summer alone has seen 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' have a $191 million opening weekend and 'Jurassic World' top $204 million; there is nothing more premium than that."


Sakin, Wisialowski join CAC's board

The Cinema Advertising Council has made two additions to its board of directors. Spotlight Cinema Networks President Michael Sakin was elected to represent the association's Level II members -- vendors who represent exclusive selling rights on 4,999 U.S. movie screens or less -- replacing Bob Shaw. Also, Clint Wisialowski, Marcus Theatres' Assistant VP, Sales/Research & Development has been chosen to represent CAC Affiliate members, replacing Stewart Harnell. Sakin and Wisialowski join existing board members Katy Loria, chairman of the CAC and EVP of national ad sales at CAC member Screenvision, and Dave Kupiec, executive vice president, sales & marketing with National CineMedia, who represent Level I members (vendors representing exclusive selling rights on 5,000 or more U.S. movie screens).

With more than 25 years of national ad sales experience, Sakin has extensive experience in the cinema arena, having previously served on the CAC board from 2009-11, and as chair of the CAC marketing committee. For more than 25 years, Wisialowski has built his career at Marcus Theatres, starting as an associate manager of a Waukesha, Wis., theater in 1989, then GM of a new location in Addison, Ill., in 1997, and moving up the ranks to his current position.
