Guidelines set standards for gestational age, due date calculation

Ultrasound SmartBrief | Sep 25, 2014

New guidelines for calculating gestational age and due date have been released by a consortium of medical groups including the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine. The guidelines call for using last menstrual cycle, the first accurate ultrasound evaluation or both to calculate due date. Obstetric estimates, rather than last menstrual date, should be used to calculate gestational age for research purposes. All information should be discussed with the patient and included in the medical record. PhysiciansBriefing.com (09/23)
