Experts recommend medical therapy after first seizure

The American Academy of Neurology and the American Epilepsy Society have released a new guideline for treatment of first-time seizures. Patients should take epilepsy medication immediately following a first seizure to lessen the risk of future seizures, according to the document, published in the journal Neurology.
