FCC approves Open Internet rules in 3-2 vote

The Federal Communications Commission voted 3-2 today to approve Chairman Tom Wheeler's proposal to reclassify broadband Internet service as a utility, placing it under the purview of Title II of the Communication Act. Opponents have vowed to sue to prevent implementation of the new rules -- which among other things will prohibit service providers from creating special fast lanes over their networks.
