Snakelike robot developed for maintenance duties at sea

Snakelike robots to be stationed on the seabed are designed to carry out routine tasks associated with offshore oil rigs and wind turbines. International oil company Statoil and partners are developing the highly maneuverable swimming robots, which are intended for routine inspection and some light repairs, reducing the need for costly human interventions.
