Lack of workers forces US Gulf Coast refiners to delay maintenance

SMRP SmartBrief | Jan 03, 2017

Gulf Coast refiners planning to carry out long-delayed maintenance work at plants are now facing significant labor shortages that threaten to further postpone maintenance work and therefore increase costs. US refiners could spend $1.26 billion on maintenance in 2017, the most since at least 2010, but Industrial Information Resources Vice President Anthony Salemme warns that "refiners are going to have trouble finding even the lowest-skilled workers, such as scaffold builders."
