Justice Department reportedly set to approve AT&T-DIRECTV deal

SBCA SmartBrief | Jul 07, 2015

The U.S. Department of Justice is expected to greenlight AT&T's purchase of DIRECTV without setting conditions on the merger, according to this report, which adds that officials are not commenting on their antitrust review. The Federal Communications Commission must still sign off on the $48.5 billion deal, and Chairman Tom Wheeler indicated on June 18 that his agency would move "with dispatch" on its review.
