U. of Va. re-creating flat roofs with Jefferson's original design

NRCA SmartBrief | Jul 27, 2016

The University of Virginia is using modern materials to re-create flat roofs envisioned by Thomas Jefferson over the university's Academical Village. Jefferson planned a serrated roof covered with a deck, and the new roofs will be constructed with sheets of plywood sheathing, a rubber membrane, 1-inch-thick sleeper joists and decking composed of Brazilian walnut.
