Derivatives reform approved by House

The House has voted 239-182 to pass a bill to reauthorize the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and to reform certain derivatives policies. The bill would require more stringent cost-benefit analysis by the CFTC before rules are adopted, and it contains language that addresses registration of swaps dealers and restriction of the CFTC's ability to set position limits.
