DeSalvo explains how interoperability can be attained

Health IT SmartBrief | Apr 21, 2015

National Health IT Coordinator Dr. Karen DeSalvo said at the recent HIMSS meeting that health IT has helped advance health data sharing in the U.S., but the ONC's interoperability visions will be met quickly only if standards are established, clarity about the trust environment is achieved and the role of incentives in EHR use is understood by industry stakeholders. DeSalvo also asked health IT professionals to work together toward the goal of making it possible for all Americans to access their health records whenever they need them.
