Federal budget cuts hamper Ebola vaccine research

No vaccine exists yet for the Ebola virus in part because budget cuts have kept the NIH from funding promising research, NIH Director Francis Collins said. Stable research funding would have made a difference in the state of vaccine development when the current outbreak started spreading, Collins said.
