Report: U.S. now 2nd-largest Spanish-speaking country behind Mexico

The U.S. is second only to Mexico as having more Spanish speakers than Spain, according to a recent Instituto Cervantes study. More than 41 million people are native speakers in the U.S., and an estimated 11.6 million are bilingual, the report says. It notes New Mexico, California, Texas and Arizona have the highest Spanish-speaking populations. The Guardian (London) (06/29)
