The Air Force Reserve's first F-35 fighters will arrive in August at Naval Air Station Fort Worth, the base for the 301st Reserve Fighter Wing. "To actually see … and touch and sign that first delivery that's going to be coming to us later on this summer couldn't be more exciting," Air Force Reserve Commander Lt. Gen. John Healy said after he and 10th Air Force Commander Brig. Gen. Regina Sabric signed their names on the bulkhead under each jet's nose gear.

The Defense Department has updated its procurement regulations to increase domestic content requirements under the Buy American Act for defense acquisitions, aligning these rules with those of civilian agencies. The new amendment to the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement increases the domestic content threshold for products to qualify as domestic end products.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers plans to introduce legislation today that would require the military to track exposure to damaging shock waves from weapons fire, give regular neurocognitive test to affected soldiers and train military medical personnel to recognize the effects of blast exposure. The proposal would also require the Pentagon to consider blast exposure in designing new weapons and retrofit some existing ones.

Jennifer Hughes was sworn into the Utah National Guard this week, overcoming the Guard's age restrictions with a waiver much as she overcame a traumatic injury to run marathons. "I love to push myself beyond what I think I am capable of and show people and the youth that you can do hard things and it is never too late to go for your dreams," said Hughes, a special education teacher.

The US Space Force has awarded Rocket Lab a $14.4 million contract to launch the STP-S30 experiment, set to orbit in very low Earth orbit and scheduled for 2026 using Rocket Lab's Electron small launcher from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia. The mission is part of the Space Test Program.

Brig. Gen. Regina Sabric, commander of the 10th Air Force, the combat arm of Air Force Reserve Command, has launched the "Carnivore Hunger Games," challenging its 17 units to show the highest percentage of growth across 19 categories of readiness. "Nobody has enough money and everybody would like more, but we've got to start thinking outside the box" about how to motivate people, Sabric said.
