Survey: 1 in 5 say business travel will exceed 2019 levels | American to resume flights to Evansville, Ind. | Ohio airport offers site-specific search function
This year's Global Rescue Winter Traveler Sentiment and Safety Survey shows a 37% increase in business travel from 2023 figures, with 22% of business travelers saying they predict corporate travel will surpass pre-pandemic levels in 2024 and 68% of respondents saying they have both domestic and international trips planned. Although virtual meetings aren't disappearing, 56% of business travelers said they are not a substitute for face-to-face interactions.
American Airlines will resume service on September 4 between Chicago and Evansville, Ind. "We appreciate American Airlines' continued commitment to the Evansville market, and we are grateful for the State of Indiana's investments that have empowered airline growth at EVV," said Nate Hahn, the airport's executive director.
Dayton International Airport has added FlyMyAirport, a digital platform that allows passengers to easily search flights through the Ohio airport. The search function, powered by Kayak, can help local travelers plan "everyday trips as well as their dream vacations starting from Dayton instead of other airports," said Gil Turner, director of aviation for the city of Dayton.
Southwest Airlines will add a new nonstop route June 4, between Nashville, Tenn., and Cincinnati, Ohio, the only nonstop service on that route. Southwest also flies from Cincinnati to Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Baltimore and Orlando, Fla.
In the second half of the year, IHG Hotels & Resorts will add new generative AI features to its IHG One Rewards mobile app, creating a more interactive and customized experience for users planning trips. The new capabilities will be offered through an expanded partnership with Google Cloud.
Throughout the month, Culina Ristorante at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles at Beverly Hills will host "Festa del Limone," a seasonal pop-up with lemon-themed meals and beverages. The special menu marks the start of lemon season on Italy's Amalfi Coast and features items such as fresh pasta al limone, lemon sorbet and a Limoncello Sour cocktail.
United Airlines launched its summer service April 14 between Athens, Greece, and Dulles International Airport near Washington, D.C., several weeks earlier than originally planned. United will begin several other transatlantic summer routes in May, from multiple US gateways to cities such as Barcelona, Spain; Edinburgh, Scotland; Naples, Italy; and Paris.
Delta Air Lines and their partner airline Aeromexico celebrated the launch of a new route between Boston and Mexico City at Boston's Logan International Airport. To mark this monumental event, passengers who flew on the first flight to Mexico received gifts as a thank you.
