Delta Air Lines' advocacy team is working not only in Washington, D.C. but in states across the country to push for policies that promote the production of sustainable aviation fuel. "Delta continues to partner across the value chain to advocate for state and federal incentives that will spur demand and kickstart SAF production, resulting in a level playing field with lower emission fuels already available, like biodiesel and renewable diesel," said Cherie Wilson, vice president of government affairs - sustainability.

American Airlines' "smart gating" technology has cut aircraft taxiing time by 20% since it was launched at the airline's Fort Worth hub in 2021 and is now in use in Miami International Airport, Chicago International Airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport and Reagan National Airport near Washington, D.C. "In the past, our team members performed gate assignments manually for hundreds of different flights using a legacy software system, a process that "was long and time-consuming," a spokesperson said, but that work can now be done "in a few minutes."

Don Mitacek, a retired president of Delta's TechOps Service Group, was honored with a MRO Lifetime Achievement Award at the Aviation Week MRO Americas conference in Chicago, where representatives of American Airlines, FedEx Express, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and UPS discussed Airlines for Americas' Engineering, Maintenance and Material Council in a panel. A4A presented the 58th annual Nuts and Bolts Awards to Gerald "Jerry" Yagan, founder and president of the Aviation Institute of Maintenance, and Ken MacTiernan, an aviation maintenance line mechanic for American Airlines for three decades who held leadership roles in the MRO industry.

In naming Joel Goldberg as chief information officer, Atlas Air underscored the value of communications executives with expertise in ecommerce and retailing.
